Wellness & Beauty
We customize every treatment to your needs, by blending different massage methods and therapeutic techniques.
One day you may want a soft relaxing aroma massage to relieve your stress. Another day you have a painful muscle that needs deep tissue massage and triggerpoint treatment.
Our therapists have the skills and experience to FIX U no matter what.
When you close your eyes and imagine your next massage, what do you see? For many people it’s lying on a table with soft music playing in the background, while a massage therapist gently rubs your back and shoulders.
This “traditional” treatment, known as Swedish massage, is one of the most popular and common massage modalities. It relies on the power of healing touch. If you’ve ever had a massage, there’s a good chance you’ve experienced some form of Swedish massage.
This method has one main focus: Relaxation. The FIX U therapists use soft, long strokes to warm up the body. However, there’s much more to our treatments: Once the muscles are prepared, your therapist will use different therapeutic techniques to work deeper, depending on your needs.
Whether you’re a serious athlete or a weekend warrior, you’ve likely experienced stiff, sore muscles. Regular massage not only relieves tension and pain but can also improve your performance.
The FIX U therapists incorporate different modalities specific to your needs, including stretching and trigger point therapy. Massage therapy is beneficial before, during, or after sporting events.
Sports massage is an important part of a balanced training routine. Movement is important, but so is recovery! Muscle groups that are heavily exercised often lose the ability to relax, leading to chronic tension and a loss of flexibility. Regular treatments reduce recovery time, promote flexibility, ease muscle strain, and heal injuries.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue massage applies pressure to specific layers of muscle, tendons, and tissues deep underneath the skin. This modality is highly therapeutic and works for everyone, from athletes to office workers. Daily routines, like sitting at a desk can lead to chronic muscle tension. Deep tissue massage relieves these patterns and is extremely beneficial for the back, shoulders, and neck.
People suffering from chronic pain often benefit from regular deep tissue massage. Unfortunately, many shy away from regular treatments because of the cost. We understand this dilemma – that’s why we’ve created the FIX U Membership, which provides a cost-effective method allowing you to integrate massage into your life.
Our goal is to help you reach your health and wellness goals. There’s no reason to live with chronic pain.
Gain, not Pain
Many people associate massage therapy with painful amounts of pressure, but that is not correct. Therapeutic massage isn’t synonymous with pain.
The idea that short-term agony on the massage table will result in long-term relief is a common misconception. Many believe that having a massage therapist pushing, crushing, or digging into our muscles is the only way to heal the body.
FIX U takes a different approach. Our therapists work with you to customize a massage that nourishes and supports your body.
Pressure is necessary – pain is not.
Trigger Point Therapy
Each body is a matrix of intertwined muscles, joints, and tendons. Simple daily activities, like driving for long periods of time, sitting at a desk all day, or even a regular exercise routine may cause strain and create muscle tension. Continuous movement like running, lifting weights, or even long walks can irritate delicate tissue.
When tissues remain in a contracted state for long periods of time, they harden, creating small, painful nodules called “trigger points” which often leads to chronic pain. Fortunately, there’s a treatment for this condition, known as “Trigger Point Therapy,” and it’s one of the many modalities offered at FIX U. During a trigger point session, our therapists locate the nodules, then gently apply pressure to release the irritated tissue.
Trigger point therapy reduces pain, relieves tension, and increases range of motion. It not only unlocks tension in one part of the body, it’s a great way to increase overall circulation and help muscles regain their full function.
There’s a common misconception that to receive this type of massage you must be able to endure high levels of pain and soreness to notice any significant benefits. Trigger point therapy isn’t meant to be painful — it’s designed to reduce discomfort and heal injuries.
Do your shoulders, or neck feel tight and cramped after sitting at a desk for hours? Are overly tight hamstrings making it hard to bend down and tie your shoes? Are you still nursing an old injury, like an ankle sprain, that makes it hard to walk longer distances without pain?
Stretching is a great way to keep the body limber, but not all of us are able to incorporate it into our daily lives. If a yoga class just doesn’t fit into your schedule, why not add some stretching to your massage treatment?
When combined with regular massage techniques, assisted stretching not only keeps your muscles supple, it helps your massage therapist work more effectively.
